Where to find School Supply Lists
My children are literally having a meltdown as I write this post – total denial that it is time to start thinking about school supplies for this school year. There is only about a month left (EEEEKKKK!!!) to get what you need to get your kiddo ready for the 1st day of school! I typically don’t set aside a huge budget for the actual school supplies (not including clothes and shoes) because if you shop the sales you can literally get all you need for next to nothing!
But in order to make the most of your shopping, you have to know where to find what you need to buy. Here are a few ways to find the list for your child’s upcoming school year.
- The easiest way to get the list is to go to your schools website. If you don’t know the address off the top of your head you can just type the name of your school into Google and you should be able to find it pretty quickly. It is close enough to the start of the school year that all the school systems should have these lists posted. Here in Knoxville you can just go to the Knox County Schools Website. Select your child’s school from the drop down menus at the top of the page, then click “Family Resources” and then “School Supply Lists”.
- If you are going to be out and about then you can always look for the lists in the store. Walmart, Target, OfficeMax/Depot and Staples will usually have the lists somewhere near the school supplies. Just make sure to get your school’s list and the correct grade level.
- If you absolutely cannot find your school’s list anywhere else, you can head over to School-Supply-List.com and enter your zip and find your school. These lists are a bit on the generic side but it is a good place to start if you cannot find your schools specific lists. I know with my daughter’s school they prefer Fiskar Scissors, Crayola Crayons and Markers and other specific brand name items but if you school is dragging their feet on getting the lists out then they can just get what they get
You can keep up with all of my back to school posts here and don’t forget we still have Tax Free Weekend coming up. You can find out all about it in my post here – this includes all of the participating states with a link to each states inclusions and exclusions. If you have a big ticket item on your list then you may want to hold off until Tax Free Weekend to pick it up.
*Don’t forget to Pin this so you can find it again for next year!
