More Facebook Changes – Don’t Miss Out On More Deals Because Of It!

If you have been following me for awhile then you know I have a love/hate relationship with Facebook.   As a blogger, it is EXTREMELY frustrating when Facebook makes changes that touch my business pages and even more frustrating when they refuse to admit to it.  Today I have found it no less frustrating that they are finally admitting to it.

I came across an interesting article today and it explains some of the changes that FB is making.  These changes have already started.  It explains how a pages “Organic” reach will decline over time (and it is a short period of time – like overnight). That means unless someone is paying Facebook, you will not see their posts.  While they say this is so YOU can have a more meaningful experience I think we all know they just want to make more money 😉  You can read the full article here.

“We expect organic distribution of an individual page’s posts to gradually decline over time as we continually work to make sure people have a meaningful experience on the site.”

Facebook is making decisions for you about what you see and unless businesses are willing to pay to have posts seen, you will no longer be getting updates and posts from them.    I can promise you that most small businesses (including mine) just do not have the extra money to promote each post we make.  It is a minimum of $5 per post to promote, on an average day I will post 10-20 times, over the span of a month I could be making a couple extra mortgage payments!

I encourage all of you to take a few minutes and go through the Facebook pages that you enjoy getting updates from and do just one simple thing so that you can continue to get these updates.   Ok – I will actually give you a few things you can do but here is the first.

Capture Visit my Facebook Page, Real Housewives Clip Coupons here – or Knoxville on a Dime here.  Then, just click “Follow”.  Yep, now “Liking” a page isn’t enough – you have to then “Follow” it.  Easy enough though and just takes a second :)  This is a new feature and you may not have it available to yet.  If not, then you can do this instead…

Click on the “Liked” button and a drop down similar to this should show up for you.  Just select “Show in News Feed” or “Get Notifications”.

You can also join my Group page – right now I am just focusing on Holiday deals but I will change it up after the season is over.  Once you join the group, make sure to turn on your Notifications – the default setting is Off – of course  :)  Join the group here.

As always, you can subscribe for a daily email with all the posts for the day.  You can follow me on Twitter, Pinterest, Google+ and Instagram.

I write this not only for my own benefit, please do this with all the pages you want to keep up with – especially small businesses whom this will effect the most.
