We went Krogering! We had a great trip – I was getting some items to add to the old stockpile and also buying items for my daughter’s Birthday party coming up on Saturday. I picked up several produce items as well that were “Manager Specials” – $0.49-$0.99 ea – that are not pictured. 2 broccoli crowns, stir-fry mix, arugula, mushrooms, cauliflower and baby carrots made up about $7.50 of my total. The Capri-Suns were something that I didn’t want to buy (we have a pretty good supply at home) but with the birthday party I didn’t want to deplete what we have set aside for lunches – 5 boxes x $1.88 ea.
Price before coupons = 154.91
MFG Coupon Savings = 62.42
Kroger Plus and Store Coupon Savings = $58.72 (I had $12 in Catalinas + Store Qs + $25 in Mega Event Instant Savings)
Final Total for all items purchased was $33.77 for 74 items (that is $0.45 per item) or 79% savings
I also left with $14 in Catalinas from the Kraft Promotion and the Kraft Mayo Promotion! That is like paying $19.77 for everything (88% savings)!
Keep in mind that when I shop I have two separate kinds of trips. I shop weekly for proteins and produce, I also shop 2-3 times per month to add to my stockpile (depending upon the sales). My weekly trip rarely involves coupons because you rarely find produce and protein coupons – once I make this trip I can come home and build a weekly menu based on what I can add to it with my stockpile.
If I find a great deal during my weekly trip then I will stock up on extra chicken, turkey, beef or pork and break it up and freeze it. Up until this week, I had not actually been shopping for almost 2 weeks because of everything I had stocked up on.
I had to add the Poppy Seeds to the post too – I was carded for them at Customer Service (I was at Food City). Apparently kids and addicts are brewing these like tea and drinking it to get high. This was news to me but I thought I would share. What a world we live in.
